April 12 is an anniversary in our country – 60 years ago, our compatriot Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin became the first person to “pierce” outer space. The country’s main exhibition has been celebrating Cosmonautics Day for several years now.
An entire program has been prepared for the anniversary. Guests will be offered free tours of the VDNKh territory and the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center, a presentation of two new space exhibitions, a performance of Spaceship No. 1, a concert by the indie band On-The-Go with an orchestra. Everyone will also be able to take part in the all-Russian space dictation, which will be held at the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center.
Launch from Baikonur online
On April 9, the crew of a new expedition, Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov, as well as NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei, will depart from the Baikonur Cosmodrome for the International Space Station (ISS).
The launch and docking of the manned Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft will be broadcast live from 13:10 by the VDNKh group in Odnoklassniki. Pilot cosmonaut, Hero of Russia, president of the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center Fyodor Yurchikhin will comment on the launch.
“Time to Space” Festival
On April 10-12, the international festival “Time to Space” will be held, which has been arranged since 2013 with partner support from Roscosmos State Corporation and VDNKh. Among the honorary participants and guests at the festival this year are veteran cosmonauts and heroes from the Soviet Union, famous scientists, managers of industrial companies.
As part of the festival, on April 10, the Smart City Pavilion will host an international space and teleconferencing conference, which will connect cosmonauts and astronauts from around the world with school children, students, young specialists from Russia and other countries via an internet channel. On April 10-11, VDNKh’s culture house and the Smart City pavilion will host lectures from leading engineers, researchers and well-known space promoters. On April 11, the Smart City Pavilion will host an extended lecture on “Winged Humanity. The View of a Science Fiction Writer, Philosopher, Engineer”. On April 12, the festival holds for the first time a business program, within which various current topics related to the development of astronautics will be discussed. On April 11, at 10:00, the first all-Russian space dictation will be held at the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center. From here, a live broadcast will be carried out, to which other sites organized in different regions of Russia will join. You can also watch the broadcast in the group “Cosmonautics and Aviation Center at VDNKh” on the social network VKontakte. It will be possible to test your knowledge of space even underground – at the Vystavochnaya station in the Moscow metro. The dictation will consist of 30 questions that cover different areas of knowledge. Presenter – pilot cosmonaut, Russian hero, chairman of the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center, author of the dictatorship Fyodor Yurchikhin. One of the questions will be asked directly from Earth’s orbit, it will be asked by the crew members of the International Space Station.
Everyone over the age of 12 will be able to test their knowledge. To write a dictation at the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center on VDNKh and see the legends of cosmonautics, as well as other star guests, live, you must pre-register. Electronic questionnaires with completed answers are accepted until 12:00 Moscow time.
