“Star Wars” can begin between Moscow and Washington

The Americans have created a special intelligence unit Space Delta 18, the purpose of which is to monitor the actions of Russia and China in orbit.

The world reeked of another war. This time – “star” and it’s not about cinema. As reported by the popular Indian TV channel WION, in the United States at the end of June, the National Aerospace Intelligence Center (NSIC) was established at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. It will be operated by the new Special Reconnaissance Unit Space Delta 18, which is part of the US Army Space Forces.

The task of the Space Delta 18 division is to spy on the actions of Russia and China in space. The publication fears that this will lead to a worsening of the situation in orbit, up to space war. The channel believes that the Pentagon, by creating an entire spy unit, shows a militant attitude and considers outer space as a battlefield.

The NSIC will be headed by Colonel Marcus Randall (right).

The center, which will be headed by Marcus Randall, will host squadrons of space and counterspace analysis, the Krasnaya Vesna news agency said. The center will employ geospatial intelligence analysts, as well as specialists in tracking the situation in the planet’s orbit. According to some reports, the new unit will have about 350 civilian and military personnel who, along with other US intelligence agencies, will begin gathering critical intelligence about threat systems and plans in other states.

As for the Space Delta 18 itself, there is only one task here – to follow Russia and China directly into space.

The concerns expressed on the Indian TV channel are well founded. The United States has repeatedly “pierced” on the fact that it uses space in a geopolitical confrontation with Russia. So, in particular, the American commercial satellite Worldview-2 filmed Novaya Kakhovka. A town in the Kherson region, recently liberated from the nationalists, came under brutal rocket fire from a HIMARS installation. As a result, seven people were killed and dozens were injured.

Meanwhile, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has repeatedly accused Russia of starting to use space data during its military special operation.

Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko sees little threat in the new US-created spy unit. As the editor-in-chief of National Defense magazine explained to Life, Space Delta 18 is nothing more than an intelligence unit that solves intelligence tasks to identify potential aggression for the United States. At the same time, the expert urged not to relax and not to let space scouts out of sight. Korotchenko believes that Russia must take its own steps, in particular to develop its systems of space constellations.

“It is necessary to continue work on anti-satellite weapons, so that in the event of an escalation we can deprive the United States of ‘eyes and ears’ in space,” Korotchenko explained.

Conflict in space is a reality

The head of the Space Policy Institute, Ivan Moiseev, believes that the conflict between Russia and the United States in space is real. The expert is convinced that the White House is even ready for such a development of events.

“There are ways to destroy Earth’s satellites. In the world, only Russia, the USA, China and India can do this. It is also possible to destroy the sensitive parts of satellites with laser radiation, and interference is possible,” explained the specialist.

Moiseev recalled the recently published strategy for security in the field of space policy of the United States, which states that the Americans consider attacks in cyberspace, solar flares that can interfere with satellites and external disturbances as their main threats.

“External interference is precisely the defeat of satellites by external forces, which we are talking about. But the latter is difficult to imagine in reality, because it would be tantamount to war, since space objects are the sovereign territory of the states that launched them. And, judging by the documents and actions of the United States, they are really preparing for this, says the head of the Space Policy Institute.

However, Oleg Mukhin, vice-president of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation, reassures the Russians, citing that the country has something to answer for in the event of a conflict in space.

“We will make decisions depending on what they will do in space. From the point of view of space intelligence, everything is in order with us,” assured the expert.

A space: USA vs Russia

The publication recalls that the United States began to prepare for war in space during the 20th century. So in 1983, then-President Ronald Reagan announced the creation of the so-called SDI program (Strategic Defense Initiative), the meaning of which was precisely to establish dominance in space. The Americans planned to install special means in orbit that could intercept any missiles. But after 10 years, the programs “collapsed”. Some analysts claim that the SDI program is nothing more than a big scam created solely to “hijack” the budget. By the way, then the first Star Wars films began to appear under this case in the late 70s. This can hardly be called a coincidence, because they know how much American politicians like to use Hollywood for their own purposes.

Already under President Donald Trump, the space forces were established, which aimed to carry out military operations in space. And according to some sources, the “army” consists of 16 thousand employees. At the same time, the first reconnaissance units Space Delta 7 and Space Delta 9 appeared. The latter is specialized in orbital warfare. So the battle in space, so far in this form, however, is already underway.

This explains the West’s attempt to “squeeze” Russia out of orbit. The day before, the head of the European Space Agency, Josef Aschbacher, said that Europe would no longer cooperate with Roscosmos on the ExoMars mission. In response, the head of the department, Dmitry Rogozin, ordered to stop using the European-owned ERA manipulator, which is installed on the Russian Nauka module of the International Space Station.

“But did this head of the European Space Agency think about how many thousands of scientists and engineers in Europe and Russia he crossed over with his decision? Is he ready to answer for sabotaging a joint Mars mission? No, not to irresponsible bureaucrats like him in the European Commission. Are you ready to answer for humanity? – Rogozin wrote in his Telegram channel.

In addition, Rogozin threatened that he would do everything to return the lander belonging to the Russian Federation from Italy.

Dmitry Rogozin has never hidden the fact that people need space for science and economics. He even praised the draft of Russia’s federal space program for 2016-2025 as being pragmatic and beneficial to the country’s economy.

The fact that the Aerospace Forces will appear in Russia became known back in 2014.
