“Star Wars” could start between Moscow and Washington

The Americans have created a special intelligence unit, Space Delta 18, whose purpose is to monitor Russia’s and China’s actions in orbit.

The world smelled of a new war. This time – “star” and it’s not about cinema. As reported by the popular Indian television channel WION, in the United States in late June, the National Aerospace Intelligence Center (NSIC) was established at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. It will be powered by a new special intelligence unit, Space Delta 18, which is part of the US space force.

The task of the Space Delta 18 division is to spy on Russia’s and China’s actions in space. The publication fears that this will lead to a worsening of the situation in orbit, up to space war. The channel believes that the Pentagon, by creating an entire spy unit, shows a militant attitude and considers outer space as a battlefield.

NSIC will be led by Colonel Marcus Randall (right).

The center, which will be led by Marcus Randall, will receive squadrons with space and counter-space analysis, according to the news agency Krasnaya Vesna. The center will employ geospatial intelligence analysts, as well as specialists in tracking the situation in the planet’s orbit. According to some reports, the new unit will have about 350 civilian and military personnel who, along with other U.S. intelligence services, will begin collecting critical intelligence about threat systems and plans in other states.

When it comes to the Space Delta 18 itself, there is only one task here – to follow Russia and China directly into space.

The fears expressed on the Indian TV channel are well-founded. The United States has repeatedly “pierced” on the fact that it is using space in a geopolitical confrontation with Russia. In particular, the American commercial satellite Worldview-2 filmed Novaya Kakhovka. A city in the Kherson region, recently liberated from the Nationalists, was subjected to brutal rocket fire from a HIMARS installation. As a result, seven people were killed and dozens injured.

At the same time, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has repeatedly accused Russia of using space data during its special military operation.

Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko sees some threats in the new US-created spy unit. As the editor-in-chief of National Defense magazine explained to Life, Space Delta 18 is nothing more than an intelligence unit that solves intelligence data to identify potential aggression for the United States. At the same time, the expert urged not to relax and not to leave space scouts out of sight. Korotchenko believes that Russia must take its own steps, in particular to develop its systems of space constellations.

“It is necessary to continue the work on anti-satellite weapons, so that in the event of a deterioration, we can deprive the United States’ eyes and ears” of space, “Korotchenko explained.

Conflict in space is a reality

The head of the Space Policy Institute, Ivan Moiseev, believes that the conflict between Russia and the United States in space is real. The expert is convinced that the White House is even ready for such a development of events.

“There are ways to destroy the earth’s satellites. In the world, only Russia, the United States, China and India can do this. It is also possible to destroy the sensitive parts of satellites with laser radiation, and interference is possible,” the specialist explained.

Moiseev recalled the recently published strategy on security in the field of space policy in the United States, which states that the Americans consider attacks in cyberspace, solar flames that can disturb satellites, and external disturbances as their main threats.

“External interference is precisely the defeat of satellites by external forces, which we are talking about. But the latter is difficult to imagine in reality, because it would be tantamount to war, because space objects are the sovereign territory of the states that launched them. And, Judging by the US documents and documents, they are really preparing for this, “emphasized the head of the Space Policy Institute.

However, Oleg Mukhin, vice president of the Russian Federation of Cosmonautics, reassures Russians that the country has something to respond to in a space conflict.

“We will make decisions depending on what they will do in space. From the point of view of space intelligence, everything is in order with us,” the expert assured.

One space: USA vs Russia

The publication recalls that the United States began preparing for war in space in the XX century. So in 1983, then-President Ronald Reagan announced the creation of the so-called SDI (Strategic Defense Initiative) program, whose purpose was precisely to establish dominance in space. The Americans planned to install special means in orbit that could catch any missiles. But after 10 years, the “programs” collapsed. Some analysts claim that the SDI program is nothing more than a big scam, created solely to “cut” the budget. By the way, then, the first Star Wars movies began to appear in this case in the late 70’s. This can hardly be called a coincidence, with the knowledge of how much American politicians like to use Hollywood for their own purposes.

Already under President Donald Trump, the space forces were established with the aim of conducting military operations in space. And according to some reports, the “army” consists of 16,000 employees. At the same time, the first reconnaissance units Space Delta 7 and Space Delta 9 appeared. The latter specializes in orbital warfare. So the battle in space, so far in this form, is already underway.

This explains the Western world’s attempts to “squeeze” Russia out of orbit. The day before, the head of the European Space Agency, Josef Aschbacher, said that Europe would no longer cooperate with Roscosmos on the ExoMars mission. In response, the head of the department, Dmitry Rogozin, ordered the cessation of the use of the European-owned ERA manipulator, which is installed on the Russian Nauka module on the International Space Station.

“But did this head of the European Space Agency think about how many thousands of scientists and engineers in Europe and Russia he crossed out with his decision? Is he ready to be held accountable for sabotaging a joint March mission? No, not in the face of irresponsible bureaucrats like him Are you ready to stand up for humanity? – Rogozin wrote in his telegram channel.

In addition, Rogozin threatened to do everything in his power to return the landing module of the Russian Federation from Italy.

Dmitry Rogozin has never hidden the fact that people need space for science and economics. He even appreciated the draft of Russia’s federal space program for 2016-2025 to be pragmatic and beneficial to the country’s economy.

The fact that Aerospace Forces will appear in Russia became known as early as 2014.
